We went to the kid doctor yesterday for BB's regular check up.
Our appointment was at 8:45, but we didn't get seen until about 9:45. I've waited longer to see a doctor, but it's more annoying to wait when you've got to keep a 22 month old occupied and happy. I'm 99% sure why they were running behind: a lady was on the elevator with us and she had her 3 kids. I waited behind her while she signed her one child in and then I overheard her ask the receptionist if the doctor could see ALL her children. She only had one appointment for one child, ONE CHILD! Not all three. I'm not sure if it was coincidence that her other 2 kids were sick or if she purposefully didn't make an appointment for all 3 because she knew the doctor wouldn't refuse sick kids. HMMMMM maybe it's a secret strategy or something?
All I know is that I wouldn't want sick kids not to get treatment because their mom didn't make them an appointment, but I can still be annoyed that my appointment was pushed back! I had an early morning appointment to hopefully miss the late day back log, I guess all the planning and strategy can't help any of us escape the black hole of wasted time in the lobby of a doctors office. Oh well. It's life. It's over and thankfully BB was a good boy for me.
His new 22 month stats are:
35 inches tall
27.15 pounds
He's always hovered around the 25th percentile for weight, but he jumped from being in the 25th-50th percentile in height all the way up to the 75th! His doc was SHOCKED! Everyone keeps saying how tall he is, but seeing the official number plotted on his chart really made me realize he is a big tall boy! He's still a skinny mini though, no matter how much he eats. It's because the boy is busy, always going and going and playing ALL THE TIME!
The doctor declared BB super healthy and reminded me of all the awful accidents nearly two years olds get into. He said at least twice a month a two year old comes in to the hosptial after being hit by a car and just last week a two year old drank oven cleaner after watching his mom clean the oven. The poor child burned his esophagus so bad he had to get a feeding tube put in his belly. I've made a mental note to watch BB like a hawk. I was also reminded that children are most likely to drown between the ages of 2-5, so I mentioned I was planning on signing up BB for swim lessons. The doc said to be extra careful becuase many times little kids who learn how to swim are extra brave and can get into scary situations. Again, BB will be watched like a hawk.
